Since many students have attended other schools abroad or lived in other countries in their past, the German School is very international. The parents' organization "Friends of Douglas House" also organizes the big summer festival, plus the annual Oktoberfest, which attracts parents, students and teachers as well as local residents.

history

The Douglas House was built in 1680 as the residence for Lord Carlton. Kitty Hyde, wife of Charles Douglas the Third , the Duke of Queensberry, inherited the house in 1725. In 1969 the Federal Republic of Germany bought the Douglas House.
