The German Swimming Coach Association (DSTV) is a professional association for swimming coaches in Germany .

history

In 1971, Heinz Hoffmann , swimming coach in the German Swimming Association (DSV), founded the DSTV. It was Hoffmann's intention to provide swimming coaches , further training opportunities and interest representation. Another demand was that the trainers in the DSTV should pass on their experiences to others, especially younger trainers. During Hoffmann's 13-year presidency, the DSTV developed into the largest coaching association in Europe. From 1984 to 2010 the German Swimming Coach Association was headed by Georg M. Fuchs, and Hasso-Rüdiger Tretow has been its head since 2010.

The German Swimming Coach Association is an extraordinary member of the DSV and represented with two votes at the DSV Association Day. She belongs to the DSV main committee (DSV presidium, chairmen of the specialist divisions and presidents of the state swimming federations), DSV specialist committee for swimming and DSV specialist committee for training and science. She has a seat and vote on the board of the World Swimming Coaches Association (WSCA).

activity

The DSTV has several goals:

  • Exchange of experience between trainers, organizations, sports institutes and training centers at home and abroad
  • Publication of the trade journal "Der Schwimmrainer"
  • Carrying out an annual, multi-day conference for members as well as other special conferences
  • Publication of a volume "Swimming - Learning and Optimizing" with the presentations of the respective annual conference
  • Creation and procurement of educational films as well as film recordings of major sporting events
