The German Bodybuilding and Fitness Association e. V. (DBFV for short) is the largest German bodybuilding organization based in Munich .
Albert Busek and Arnold Schwarzenegger are among the founding members of the organization established in 1966 as the German Weight Training Association .
The association represents its members both nationally and internationally in the sporting and commercial sector in competitive and popular sports and regularly organizes competitions at national and international level. Since 1977 he has also been a member of the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness . The DBFV is divided into fifteen regional state associations.
Objectives include:
- The promotion of bodybuilding , general weight training and fitness and research related to these activities.
- The support of physical activity with weights and equipment to develop strength for various sports disciplines and strength competitions .
- The organization of events and competition championships with local, regional, national and international feed.
- The promotion and education in the sense of sports public relations for the supervised disciplines.
The DBFV has been competing with the National Athletic Committee Germany (NACG) since 1999 .
