The German Dragon Boat Association e. V. (DDV) is a voluntary association that has set itself the task of representing and organizing dragon boat sports in Germany and in the international dragon boat associations European Dragon Boat Federation (EDBF) and International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF). Since it was founded on June 14, 1990 in Hamburg, with three teams under the first President Alfred Kramer, the association has developed into one of the world's most successful dragon boat associations. Maintaining and preserving the traditional dragon boat culture is another goal of the association.

activities

The annual German Dragon Boat Championship is certainly the most important event in the DDV season. The placements achieved also determine the qualification for international competitions (European championships, world championships) on the basis of club teams.

The European and World Championships of the national teams, which take place alternately every year, are attended by selected applicants who have been qualified through many tests and who form the national team across different classes according to age and gender.
