The German Poodle Club e. V. ( DPK ) is the largest and oldest German breed dog club for the breeding of poodles and dog sports . It is affiliated with the Association for the German Dog Industry (VDH) and the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) .

organization

According to its own statements, the DPK has over 5000 members nationwide. It consists of 60 district groups, which are combined in 11 regional groups. The chairperson of the main association is called the president in the DPK, the executive committee is called the presidium. The latter consists of the president, two deputies and the main breeding warden. In addition, at the federal level there are four committees for training, exhibition, judging and breeding, an honorary council and a chairwoman for public relations.

The member magazine Unser Pudel is published quarterly as the association organ .

history

It was founded by a group of poodle breeders in 1893. In 1896 the name was given to the Munich Poodle Club , in 1902 it was changed to the German Poodle Club, based in Munich . In 1904 the association was entered in the association register. The club's headquarters were later relocated to the respective president's place of residence. Therefore, the main office in 1993 came with the election of Leeraners Rolf Eggerking president to Leer (Ostfriesland). However, when he left office and Elke Gießler was elected as his successor in 2018, it was decided to leave the headquarters of the main office in Leer.

Areas of activity

The original task of the association was to breed and "promote understanding of poodle care". Since 1906 the German Poodle Club has organized exhibitions and breeding shows on a regular basis. But dog sports have also been practiced at the DPK since 1960. This includes leash leadership / obedience training and the Mobyclass developed from agility . In these disciplines the DPK conducts competitions and performance tests. While breeding is limited to the poodle breed, dogs of other breeds can also participate in dog sports.
