German aphorism archive

The German Aphorism Archive is an institute that deals with aphorisms .

It has been located at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf since 2019 . Previously it was housed in the premises of the Hattingen City Museum in the Blankenstein district. The archive was brought into being by the city ​​of Hattingen in 2006 after the proposal had been positively received in 2005 at the annual Hattingen aphoristic meeting. It was supported by the DAphA Hattingen association. Responsible are Jürgen Wilbert and Friedemann Spicker . One of the goals of the work was the establishment of a library and a database. This includes over 3,500 library units.

From 2016, the holdings were gradually relocated to the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf for reasons of space . In 2019, the archive relocation was completed after a five-year process.
