The German Flat Display Forum (DFF) was founded in February 2000 as a working group in the Association of German Mechanical and Plant Engineering (VDMA) and became a registered association in 2015 . The working group is the industry-led association of interests of the European flat panel display industry and represents over 60 international companies and research institutes whose main areas of activity are located along the entire value chain. Members are material and component suppliers, manufacturers of process and manufacturing equipment, flat display manufacturers, system integrators and distributors as well as flat display end users and research institutes.

history

In December 1998, Wolfgang Ehrfeld, in his role as the head of the Institute for Microtechnology Mainz (IMM) at the time, started an initiative that brought together 24 leading suppliers, potential manufacturers, end users, associations and research institutions from the German flat panel display community. This initiative developed a strategy to expand the German position on the world flat display market and to develop globally competitive production capacities for flat displays in Germany . The German Flat Display Forum, which was founded in February 2000, emerged from this activity.

organization structure

The working group is led by a voluntary board of directors, which is made up of representatives of the member companies. The board is elected every two years by the general assembly. The general assembly takes place once a year to decide on activities and services as well as finances .

As a working group, the association is a working group within the Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau (VDMA), the largest industrial association in Europe . As an interest group for the capital goods industry, the VDMA represents around 3,000 primarily medium-sized member companies from 38 industries and is one of the most influential business associations in Germany.

goals and tasks

The aim of the working group is to strengthen the European display industry. The DFF promotes the training and further development of a competence and excellence network along the entire value chain and helps its members to identify and develop new business areas.

Services

The offers its members a network platform for cooperation, independent information and advice on display technologies and the display market, training and further education measures for specialists, promotion of the display industry through joint publications and joint appearances at international trade fairs.
