The German Information Center for Cultural Funding (DIZK) was an internet database for art and culture funding .

Project

The German Information Center for Cultural Promotion (www.kulturfoerderung.org) was an initiative of the Kulturstiftung der Länder , which it launched in 2003 as a project sponsor together with the Federal Association of German Foundations and the Kulturkreis der Deutschen Wirtschaft in the Federation of German Industry . Since July 8, 2008, the Federal Association of German Foundations has been the sponsor of the DIZK.

The aim of the Berlin-based community initiative to set up a central contact point that provides and mediates information about private and public funding opportunities for art and culture was achieved in 2006. On December 1, 2006, the then Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, Christian Wulff , activated the DIZK's internet database. The information center offered an overview of organizations promoting art and culture, primarily foundations.

The establishment of the DIZK was supported by the Federal Cultural Foundation , the Robert Bosch Foundation , Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG and the Deutsche Bank Foundation.

The portal was discontinued on June 15, 2017.

Information offer

The information on private and public sponsors of art and culture was summarized in an internet database (German / English) that could be queried online free of charge.

The holdings, comprising around 3,500 data records, provided information mainly about German foundations that support art and culture. At the same time, international funding agencies were recorded.

Cooperations

Since the beginning there has been a division of labor with the online edition of "Handbuch der Kulturpreise", which is sponsored by the federal government. At the European level, the DIZK cooperated with LabforCulture, an information and communication platform for cross-border art and cultural work in Europe, which is supported by the European Cultural Foundation in Amsterdam.
