German Langschan is a breed of chicken that was bred from the Croad-Langschan at the end of the 19th century , including other chicken breeds.
features
The German Langschan is a raised chicken with a long and stretched body. It has a slightly forward leaning posture with an ascending back line. The trunk is strong and full and remains the same width over the entire length. The Langschan have a very deep, broad and arched chest. On the rather small head there is also a small comb which is straight and standing.
The German Langschan, like their ancestors, the Croad-Langschan, are good cattle . They convince with a laying capacity of 160 eggs in the first and 120 eggs in the second year. Their straw-yellow to brown-yellow eggs weigh around 58 grams. The ring size is 22 for the cock and 20 for the hen.
To breed this breed were u. a. Minorka used.
There is the German Langschan in the colors black, blue-lined, white and brown-breasted.
Existence and endangerment
The German Langschan is rare and is considered an endangered breed of domestic animal . The BDRG and the GEH have classified the breed in the " Red List of Endangered Livestock Breeds 2013 " in the highest hazard class I (extremely endangered). After that there were only 104 roosters and 407 hens in Germany in 2009.
