German Dance Film Institute Bremen

The German Dance Film Institute Bremen is a national archive for the collection, processing and production of audiovisual dance documents in Bremen .

It was founded in 1988 by Heide-Marie Härtel as a non-profit organization and supports the work of choreographers , dance companies, theaters , specialist journalists, dance scholars and television companies by providing the collected materials and helps with the production and restoration of dance videos and films.

Using a specially developed database, users can query information about the archived material. The archive, whose holdings are continuously expanded and updated, currently comprises over 40,000 video tapes and digital film formats.

The institute creates its own video productions, develops series of events and lectures such as the "Tanz-Salon" and cooperates with other cultural institutions on a project basis.

Video recordings and editing are carried out in the television standard (Betacam SP, analog and non-linear editing / HD quality).
