The D 16006 is a tractor with articulated steering the brand Deutz from the series D-06 . It was Deutz's top model at the time. Although the D 16006 was assigned to the D-06 series by the manufacturer, the tractor had little in common with other tractors of this generation.
history
The Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG ceased production of construction end of the 1960s. The main reason for this decision was that many of the other construction machinery manufacturers were important buyers of Deutz engines and they did not want to compete with them. So the idea arose of converting a wheel loader from construction machinery production into a large tractor with articulated steering. For this purpose, the driver's seat and controls were rotated so that the engine was now in front. This model was primarily intended for heavy plowing in large farms. The model presented in 1969 was mainly intended for export; due to a lack of market success, production was discontinued after a few dozen units were manufactured. The D 16006 was part of the Deutz product range until 1975.
technology
The articulated steering and hydraulic drive are characteristic of the D 16006 . An F8L413 with an output of 160 hp is used as the engine. This transmits the power via a power shift reversing gear with four forward and reverse gears and a hydrodynamic torque converter to a downstream two-speed gearbox. In this way, the tractor was able to accelerate continuously up to its final speed from a standstill. The fourth gear was locked in order to limit the maximum speed. The all-wheel drive of the D 16006 is permanent and the PTO is hydraulically driven.
