The Deutz OMD 130 R series was a two-axle diesel locomotive with a rod drive for shunting service. A total of 22 locomotives were built by Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz (KHD) between 1934 and 1936 , one locomotive was in service with the East Hanoverian Railways until the mid-1990s. This has been preserved in the historic engine shed in Wittenberge .
development
From the 1930s onwards, Deutz manufactured the engines of the OM series , with which seven locomotive series were offered. The common feature of the locomotives in the series was that they were equipped with water-cooled two-stroke diesel engines with two or three cylinders.
22 locomotives were built as the OMD 130 R series . The locomotives were mostly used for military purposes in Germany, France or Morocco .
A locomotive came to Belgium via an intermediary and was registered with the SNCB in 1935 .
technology
The shunting locomotives had a porch and a driver's cab. A special feature was the spaciously designed driver's cab, the flat roof and the round driver's cab front window typical of Deutz locomotives. The locomotive designation was based on the designation of the engine, with OMD130R this meant O = two-stroke engine, M = water-cooled, D = three-cylinder version , 1 = first stage of the engine, 30 = the piston stroke in cm and R = regular-gauge shunting locomotive . The locomotives were offered in the gauges 900 - 1,676 mm.
The power was transmitted mechanically via a gearbox with a rod drive , with the jackshaft as a gearbox output shaft behind the drive wheels under the driver's cab. The locomotives owned by the dummy shaft of a drive rod and a coupling rod for power transmission.
There are different details about the maximum speed of the locomotive. While one source gives the maximum speed of 15 km / h, more recently 40 km / h is mentioned.
commitment
Operational data are only known for the locomotive that has been preserved.
OHE 00604
The locomotive was delivered in 1935 and used for the Army High Command . She was used on the Munster training area. After 1945 she came to the East Hanoverian Railways. The locomotive was initially designated as D 00604 and was mostly used for shunting in Winsen . She also came to Amelinghausen for a short time .
In 1963, in place of the original three-cylinder diesel engine, it was given a new Deutz A8L 714 engine. The manual transmission was exchanged for a differential converter transmission . It was in use until the 1990s and has been the only representative of the series since 1996 in the historic locomotive shed in Wittenberge .
