The historic Lokschuppen Wittenberge is a railway museum in Wittenberge . It is located on the site of the former Wittenberge depot . The land is owned by the city of Wittenberge, which is owned by the associations Dampflokfreunde Salzwedel e. V. and Historischer Lokschuppen Wittenberge e. V. provides the site for the operation of a railway museum. The museum opened in autumn 2012.

The "Wm" signal box was completely restored before the rest of the depot was expanded and serves as a home for the Association of Historischer Lokschuppen Wittenberge.

Exhibits

The museum includes five series 44 and 50 steam locomotives with tender as well as the EMMA tank locomotive built by Hanomag and a local Pritzwalk locomotive built by Henschel . Five diesel locomotives from the former Deutsche Reichsbahn and a MaK 650 D as well as five small locomotives, including a Deutz OMZ 122 R , a Deutz OMD 130 R , an O&K RL8 and a Kö II , cover the diesel sector .

There are also three railcars. Among these is the former DRG 804 , built in 1927 by Wegmann , which operated as a 190 851-6 sidecar on the Deutsche Reichsbahn . A disaster train, a car transporter and five passenger coaches as well as various draisines round off the vehicle collection.

Events and museum operations

The local associations organize events three times a year in which the locomotive shed and vehicles are demonstrated in action. Outside of the events, the engine shed can be visited on Saturdays in the summer season.
