The type series O&K RL8 was a two-axle diesel locomotive with rod drive for the shunting service. A total of 29 locomotives were built by Orenstein & Koppel (O&K) between 1932 and 1940 . Some locomotives were in service until the 1990s.
Three locomotives in the series have been preserved.
development
From 1929, the vehicles of the RL series were built in the O&K works . The vehicles of this type series are equipped with a diesel engine, which is evident from the type series designation RL = crude oil engine and the number 8 = engine output 80 HP.
29 locomotives of the type RL 8 were built.
Eight locomotives were delivered to the Reich Aviation Ministry , one locomotive went to the city of Saarbrücken , one to the port of Elbing , one went to Daimler-Benz , five to the Reichswerke Hermann Göring and one to the Navy .
One locomotive was delivered abroad to what was then Yugoslavia and three locomotives to Austria .
technology
The machinery consisted of an unspecified engine with an output of 80 hp and a fluid transmission from Voith . The power transmission to the drive wheels took place with a chain drive on a middle jackshaft with two drive rods.
There are different statements about the maximum speed; while one source states 20 km / h, 35 km / h are mentioned elsewhere.
commitment
OHE 0603
The locomotive was delivered in 1938 and initially submitted to the Reich Ministry of Aviation . After the Second World War it became the property of the Osthannoversche Eisenbahnen and was referred to as 0603 . The locomotive was used for shunting in Celle Nord and Winsen .
In 1967 she received a new engine from Deutz and a new differential converter gearbox . From 1975 it was only used in the Bleckede factory traffic. The locomotive was in service until 2001, when it was sold to the Salzwedel steam locomotive friends . It is ready to drive in 2019.
Austria
A locomotive was delivered to Lenzing AG and was in service there until the mid-1980s. In 2015 it was handed over to the Austrian Society for Railway History . It is located in the Ampflwang Railway Museum .
Another locomotive was delivered to the Wiener Hafenbahn . In 1947 she came to a refinery in Vienna . In the 1960s it received an engine of 180 hp. The locomotive has been stored in the Strasshof Railway Museum since the 1980s .
