Dewi Chankotadze ( Georgian დევი ჭანკოტაძე , English transcription: Devi Chankotadze ; born September 1, 1961 ) was Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Georgia .

Career

Dewi Tschankotadze received military training in an artillery school in Tbilisi from 1978 to 1982 . Until 1990 he was a member of the Soviet Army . In the 1990s he was a member of the Georgian National Guard and was in command of artillery units. In 2001 he took part in further military training in Beijing . From 2000 to 2004 he worked in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Georgia and then for about a year as a military representative. In 2005 he resigned from the armed forces. In 2007 he returned to the army as commander of an artillery brigade. After the Caucasus War in 2008 , Chankotadze became Deputy Chairman of the General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces and in 2009 Chief of Staff.

Personal

Dewi Tschankotadze is married and has one daughter.
