Diómedes Núñez
Diómedes Núñez is a Dominican merengue singer.
From the age of eleven, Núñez attended the Conservatorio Nacional de Música , where he studied trumpet and harmony. He also took private singing lessons. At the age of sixteen he became a trumpeter in the orchestra of Alex Bueno , and he also performed successfully with merengue groups in his country. After two years he moved to Sergio Vargas' orchestra . The Merengue Balsié , which he recorded with this orchestra, became a classic of the genre in the Dominican Republic, which was played at all major festivals and celebrations.
He then moved to Dioni Fernández and his group El Equipo , with whom he recorded titles such as La Lloré and Pum, Pum . As a solo singer in the Ramón Orlandos orchestra , he sang popular songs such as Mi Locura , Bomba Cara and Bon Bon . In 1993 he finally founded his own orchestra, El Grupo Mío , with which he recorded the albums Esto se encendió , Esto e pa hombre , Salvaje , Ya empezó la fiesta and Diómedes el artista . In 2003 he was nominated for the Premios Casandra in the orchestra and concert of the year categories.
