Sergio Vargas (singer)
Sergio Pascual Vargas Parra (born March 15, 1963 in Villa Altagracia ) is a Dominican merengue singer.
In 1980, Vargas won second prize at the Dominican Television Festival de la Voz for his interpretation of the ballad Amor . In 1982 he became the singer of Dioni Fernández's orchestra , and in 1986 he founded his own group Los Hijos del Rey . In 1987 he was named singer of the year. In the following year, the Asociación de Cronistas de Arte awarded him two Premios Casandra for the productions Sergio and Las vampiras .
A television production under the direction of the director Jean-Luis Jorge brought him the Critics' Prize and another Premio Casandra. In 1993 he received a gold record. In the same year he performed at the Festival de la Calle Ocho in Miami. He became popular with pieces such as Corazón de piedra , No eres una más , Ni tú ni yo , A pedazos , La Pastilla , La Ventanita , Dile and Había una vez un merengue se .
