The Diakonische Stiftung Bethanien (Lötzen) is a church foundation under civil law with its seat in Quakenbrück , which is affiliated to the Kaiserswerther Association of German Deaconess Mother Houses and the Diakonisches Werk in Lower Saxony.

The origin of the work of the Diakonische Stiftung lies in East Prussia. The Evangelical Lutheran Deaconess Mother House Bethanien was founded in Lötzen (today Giżycko) in 1909 as a branch of the Königsberg Deaconess Mother House and operated a nursing school, which up until the time of National Socialism was called the “Masurian Institute”. In 1930 the school was expanded to include kindergarten and after-school careers training.

The Diakonissenhaus operates the elderly care facility "Haus Bethanien" in Quakenbrück with 59 places in the form of an inpatient facility for elderly, frail and confused people in need of care, a day care center and assisted living for people with physical and mental disabilities. There is also a kindergarten with 116 places. The house was named after the biblical landscape of Bethanien , a small town near Jerusalem .
