Diaconal work of Protestant churches in Lower Saxony

The Diaconal Work of Protestant Churches in Lower Saxony is a registered association and has been the joint Diaconal work of the Evangelical Churches in Lower Saxony since January 2014 . It is integrated as a department in the Hanover regional church office. This organization is a member of the federal association called Diakonie Deutschland .

history

The Diakonische Werk in Niedersachsen eV was founded in January 2014 by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanover , the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Braunschweig , the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schaumburg-Lippe and the Evangelical Reformed Church . The diaconal works of the regional churches of Hanover and Braunschweig were dissolved and merged into the new work. The Diaconal Works of the regional churches of Schaumburg-Lippe and the Reformed Church remain independent, but are also members of the Diaconal Work in Lower Saxony. There is close cooperation with the Diaconal Work of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oldenburg .

tasks

With over 595 members and more than 75,000 employees in over 3,000 facilities, the DWiN is one of the largest charities in Lower Saxony. As an umbrella organization, the Diakonisches Werk supports and coordinates the institutions and professional associations affiliated to it and advises its members and regional churches on financial, organizational, conceptual and legal issues.

Governing bodies

The organs of the Diakonisches Werk are the general assembly, the supervisory board, the board of directors and the Diakonisches Rat Niedersachsen.

Board

The board of the DWiN consists of at least two and a maximum of three people. The board is currently spokesperson for Oberlandeskirchenrat Hans-Joachim Lenke, Oberkirchenratsin Uta Hirschler and Oberkirchenrat Jens Lehmann.
