The Diakovere gGmbH , short Diakovere (proper spelling DIAKOVERE) is Lower Saxony's biggest Diakonie - Group . The non-profit GmbH has been the successor organization of the Diakonischedienste Hannover (DDH) group of companies since January 1, 2016 . The Diakonische Dienst Hannover gGmbH (DDH) was a company that comprised twelve operating companies and was based in Hanover . It was founded in 2006 as a large evangelical service group from the three diaconal institutions Friederikenstift (Hanover) | Friederikenstift, Henriettenstiftung and Annastift , which had been in existence since the 19th century .

In the city of Hanover, the hospitals covered 25 percent of inpatient services and 19 percent in the Hanover region. Since 2014, EKD Church Office President Hans Ulrich Anke has been chairman of the supervisory board of what was then DDH and now Diakovere.

The name of the company was changed to Diakovere gGmbH on January 1, 2016 . The hospitals Henriettenstift, Annastift and Friederikenstift merged to form Diakovere Krankenhaus gGmbH.

After losses of more than three million euros, the company was aiming for annual revenues of two percent of annual sales from 2016. Around 160 jobs should be eliminated. In order to reduce costs, the company is also planning to gradually abandon the hospital locations in Kirchrode, in the List (already abandoned) and in the city center by 2020. The group wants to reduce the medical care to the locations Calenberger Neustadt (Friederikenstift), Südstadt (Henriettenstift) and Kleefeld (Annastift). A new mother-child center is to be added at the children's hospital on the Bult .

As a non-profit company, DIAKOVERE advertises projects for support through donations, is exempt from corporation tax and is entitled to issue donation receipts.
