Diane hungry

Diane Hunger (born August 11, 1983 in Kiel ) is a German classical saxophonist and teacher. She is a member of the MANA Quartet and the Megalopolis Saxophone Orchestra. She also teaches classical saxophone at the Detmold University of Music in Germany and at Syracuse University in the USA.

Career

Hunger studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Frankfurt / Akademie für Tonkunst Darmstadt as well as the State University of New York in Fredonia (USA) and at the Eastman School of Music (NY, USA) (Doctorate of Musical Arts and Certificate in Arts Leadership). During her time at Eastman School she worked as Chien-Kwan Lin's teaching assistant, received the Performer's Certificate and in 2011 she won the Eastman Concerto Competition with Martin's Ballade . In 2012 she was invited to make her Carnegie Hall debut.

Hunger has performed in solo concerts with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra , the Society for New Music Allstars, the ECHO Chamber Orchestra, the Banatul Philharmonic, the San José Wind Ensemble, the Fredonia Wind Symphony, the Syracuse Wind Ensemble, the CCM Chamber Ensemble and the Kiel Chamber Orchestra.

Her arrangements for saxophone have been published by Oxford University Press and Esurio Media. In 2019, Diane Hunger was a member of the 2019 Grant Application Review Panel for New Music USA and a juror for the MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) woodwind competitions. Since 2019 she has chaired the Composition Competition of the North American Saxophone Alliance.

Hunger is among others at Cornell University (Ithaca, NY, USA), at the State University of New York (Fredonia, NY, USA), at Canisius College (Buffalo, NY, USA) and at Roberts-Wesleyan College (Spencerport, NY, USA).
