Diane Johnson

Diane Lain Johnson (born April 28, 1934 in Moline , Illinois ) is an American writer .

Life

In addition to book publications, she has also been writing for The New York Review of Books since the 1970s . Together with the director Stanley Kubrick she wrote the screenplay for the film The Shining (1980), which is based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King The Shining . In 1998 she was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and in 1999 to the American Academy of Arts and Letters .

Johnson now lives in Paris and San Francisco . She was married to the physician John F. Murray (1927-2020) since 1969 . She had four children from a previous marriage.
