Diane Rehm (2010)

Diane Rehm (born September 21, 1936 in Washington, DC ) is an American radio host . She became known with her Diane Rehm show on NPR, which was broadcast throughout the US ; produced by WAMU . There she spoke to personalities of contemporary history on current political issues.

Life

Diane Rehm was born as Diane Aed to a Kurdish Orthodox immigrant family. Rehm attended William B. Powell Elementary and Roosevelt High School in Washington, DC. She got a job as a traffic announcer at the Traffic Department. She later joined the public broadcaster WAMU as an intern.

In 1979 Rehm started her first show. In 1984 she started the Diane Rehm Show and soon became known throughout the US for her direct speeches and questions to politicians. In 2016 she retired from day-to-day business, but continues to produce a weekly podcast at WAMU.
