economy

The community is still largely agriculturally oriented, with livestock also playing a significant role. The local craftsmen and small service providers have since given up their business.

history

In the Middle Ages there was an important priory of the Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens in Tourtoirac , which is about 5 km south, but was destroyed in the Hundred Years War (1337-1453).

Attractions

  • Today's church is a work of the 16./17. Century; it covers only a third of the area of the old church, of which only two portal pillars have survived. These, as well as two capitals of the old church - walled into the outer wall of the sacristy - have been recognized as monuments historiques since 1927 .
  • Inside the church there is a medieval baptismal font and the alleged sarcophagus of a local saint named Remigius or Remedius . During restoration work in 2011, some late medieval frescoes were uncovered.
