Diaryl yellow , or Diarylidgelb , is a group of green to reddish yellow, synthetic organic disazo pigments . Benzidine derivatives - in many cases 3,3'-dichlorobenzidine - are used as diazo components, and acetoacetic anilides, which are obtained by reacting the correspondingly substituted anilines with diketene , are used as coupling components . They are used for paints , plastics and printing inks .

The first patent of this pigment group, CI Pigment Yellow 13, was filed in 1911 but was not used until 1935.
