Dick Briel

Dick Briel (born December 29, 1950 in Leiden , † September 26, 2011 in Rijswijk ) was a Dutch cartoonist .

Life

Born in Leiden in 1950, Briel turned to the medium of comics after studying art at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam . Based on his role model Hergé , he drew a few pages in the style of the Ligne claire and applied for the comic magazine Eppo . He was immediately commissioned to draw an album-length story, and so the character Professor Palmboom was created in the early 1980s . In Germany the three adventures were published by Carlsen and Arboris.

Dick Briel died of cancer on September 26, 2011 at the age of 60.
