The song was written by the band members Hannes Schöner , Peter Werner-Jates , Henning Krautmacher and Janus Fröhlich . It was produced by Thomas Brück . The song reached number 41 in the German charts.

is also referred to outside of the Cologne Carnival. The comedian David Leukert plays in Schau Liebling, the moon is waxing too! on the song. It is now part of the standard repertoire in song books with Cologne songs. In 2006, before construction began on Cologne's north-south light rail , the names of the three tunnel boring machines used were announced, named after the three “fat girls” Tosca, Rosa and Carmen.
