The eight immortals of the Chinese Communist Party
The eight immortals of the Chinese Communist Party were eight members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and close companions of Mao Zedong . The group got its slang term based on the eight immortals in Chinese mythology .
It is about:
- Deng Xiaoping (1904–1997), de facto leader of the People's Republic of China from 1979 until his death in 1997
- Li Xiannian (1909–1992), President of the People's Republic of China from 1983 to 1988
- Chen Yun (1905–1995), member of the CCP Political Bureau from 1978 to 1987
- Peng Zhen (1902–1997), from 1983 to 1988 chairman of the National People's Congress
- Yang Shangkun (1907–1998), President of the People's Republic of China from 1988 to 1993
- Bo Yibo (1908–2007), member of the CCP Politburo from 1979 to 1982
- Wang Zhen (1908–1993), Vice President of the People's Republic of China from 1988 to 1993
- Song Renqiong (1909-2005), one of the founders of the People's Republic of China
The descendants of these politicians are known as princes .
