Mariusz Stępiński (born May 12, 1995 in Sieradz , Poland ) is a Polish football player . He prefers to play as a center forward in the storm .
Career
society
Mariusz Stępiński had played in his youth for the lower class club Piast Błaszki until 2009 before he moved to the youth of the fifth division Pogoń-Ekolog Zduńska Wola . There he made the leap into the first team in the second half of the 2010/11 season. In the summer of 2011 he was signed by the first division club Widzew Łódź . At the beginning of the season he was only used in the second team in the separate youth league Młoda Ekstraklasa . On November 27, 2011 he made his debut under coach Radosław Mroczkowski at the age of 16 years, six months and 15 days in the professional team when he came on in the away game against Lech Posen (1-0) in the third minute of stoppage time for Piotr Grzelczak . Further short assignments followed. On the 5th day of the 2012/13 season Stępiński scored his first goal in the home game against Górnik Zabrze (1-1). In the course of the season he fought for a regular place in the team.
For the 2013/14 season Stępiński moved to the Bundesliga for 1. FC Nuremberg . On August 25, 2014, he was awarded to Wisła Krakow until the end of the 2014/15 season . For the 2015/16 season he was sold to Ruch Chorzów . Stępiński received a three-year contract. In his first game of the season he scored the decisive winning goal as a substitute and from the fifth game he was a regular in the team. In total, he scored 15 goals in 34 games. For the 2016/17 season, among others, 1. FC Köln were interested in Stępiński, but they preferred to switch to the French first division club FC Nantes . In 2017 he was loaned from the Italian first division club Chievo Verona and then committed a year later for 2.5 million euros.
National team
Mariusz Stępiński played since the U-15 for all youth teams of the Polish Football Association . With the U-17 , he moved into the semi-finals of the U-17 European Football Championship in Slovenia in 2012 , in which, however, Germany failed.
In January 2013. Stępiński was at the age of 17 years by the Polish coach Waldemar Fornalik for an international match of the senior national team on February 2, 2013 against Romania in Spanish Málaga nominated. In the 4-1 win he made his debut when he came on for Waldemar Sobota in the 84th minute .
After that he only played in the U-20 or U-21 for the next two and a half years. Only after Poland successfully qualified for the 2016 European Football Championship in France was he invited back to a preparatory game at the end of 2015, and although he only played a few minutes in the game against Iceland, he was included in the Polish European Championship squad as a player with the fewest national team appearances . He was one of a total of five players in the EM squad who were not used in the tournament.
