Federico Barba (born September 1, 1993 in Rome ) is an Italian football player . The defender has been under contract with the Italian first division club Chievo Verona since August 2018 .

Career

Barba played in his youth at several clubs in Rome , most recently at AS Roma . With this he moved up to the professional field in 2012, but was immediately awarded to the US Grosseto . For the second division club Grosseto, he played 19 games during the 2012/13 season . Although Grosseto was relegated, they engaged Barba, who was transferred back to the Roma a short time later . However, the Romans immediately sold Barba again to FC Empoli , in the course of further transfers between the clubs. With Empoli Barba managed in the season 2013/14 promotion to the Serie A , in the season 2014/15 the home side's relegation.

On February 1, 2016, VfB Stuttgart signed Barba on loan and also secured a purchase option for a final transfer of the central defender.
