As Młoda Ekstraklasa (abbreviation ME ) the highest Polish junior football league was called.

history

The Młoda Ekstraklasa was created in 2007 by the Polish Football Association (PZPN) to allow the youth teams of the 16 clubs of the Ekstraklasa to compete against each other and to introduce young players to the professional team. The players may not be younger than 16 years and not older than 21 years of age. However, each team is also allowed to have three older players in their squad. Therefore, players of the 2nd team or professional players who are in rehabilitation training after an injury are often used in the Młoda Ekstraklasa. In the first 2007/08 season, however, only 15 teams took part, since Widzew Łódź waived to participate.

In March 2013 it was announced that the league will be discontinued at the end of the 2012/13 season and will be replaced by the Centralna Liga Juniorów .

Game mode

16 teams competed against each other in the round two to determine the Polish youth champions. There were three points for a win, one point for a draw and no points for a loss. The team that had the most points at the end of the season was the Polish youth champions. If two teams had the same number of points at the end of the season, the direct comparison of the two season games between these two teams decided who was better placed.

Values in bold indicate the top value in a division. The calculation is based on the 3-point rule (three points per win, one point per tie).
