Die Coolen Säue , DCS since 1998 , is a Cologne hip-hop group.
history
The band was formed in 1991 or 1992. The members had been active in groups such as CRA (with Snot and Lifeforce) or SOS (with Peer and Schivv) since the late 1980s.
In the following years they were represented on several compilations and brought out a single together with Fantastischen Vier , Reimbanditen, Fresh Familee and Maximum Volume under the name Die Deutsche Reimachse, for which they were attacked by purists like Äi-Tiem .
After the finished album Kinderphantasien could not be released in 1995 due to problems with the record company, a year later they released the album Stronger than Destiny , which in their own opinion contained "a lot of fragmentary and old things", but received some rave reviews.
In 1997, the concept album Unhealthy and Expensive was released , on which Dr Mülla no longer took part. The band was strengthened by DJ Lifeforce, who had previously been part of the groups Indeed and Em: Zeh, and the soul singer Brooke Russel. Although it was praised by critics as "a top-class produced and thematically just as profound as emotionally charged album", they did not succeed with this either, so that their record deal with BMG Ariola was terminated .
The group then shortened its name to DCS and switched to the Dortmund label Deck8 , where they released the album in 1999 ... from the front , which according to the motto "HipHop is becoming more of a business every day, and DCS go underground" is significantly rougher and more reduced than that was opulent unhealthy and expensive .
In 2000 the group went on tour together with Tefla & Jaleel , Curse , Pyranja and Lenny as a "swingers club" and released a single under this name.
In the following two years there were solo releases by Schivv, Ro Kallis and DJ Lifeforce on his label Beatz from Bude Records. After Peerbee and Ro Kallis moved to Berlin and Hamburg for private reasons, there were initially no further activities of the group.
Schivv and Peerbee produced beats for other artists such as Pyranja and Curse . They also founded the edition Egoizm .
Today Ro Kallis works as a copywriter in a Berlin agency, DJ Lifeforce as Head of Marketing and Sales at a DJ equipment manufacturer. Peer and Schivv are both employed as lawyers in media law in a Cologne law firm or media company.
At the beginning of 2012 their so far last album "Silber" was released, with which DCS reported back after a 12-year career break.
The model boys
In 1997 Die Coolen Säue wrote the title track for the film Die Musterknaben and contributed about half of the soundtrack.
