The Äi-Tiem is a Cologne hip-hop group that was founded in 1986 by Frank Schnütgen (aka Hans Solo) and Ralph Dammers (aka Lord Fader).

biography

In 1988 the band began producing their first record. However, they did not get a contract. In 1989 they met the two rappers "CUS" and "LSD", founders of the German hip hop label Blitz Vinyl . They released their first record in 1990 in self-distribution. In 1991 they were able to sell their music commercially under the indie label Jams (the record says 1992).

Band leader Hans Solo is responsible for most of the rap lyrics. Other members of the band are second rapper Lando Carisma, who replaced the then rapper Def Benski Obiwahn in 1996, and DJ Lord Fader, who is responsible for the music, beats and scratches . All founding members come from the Cologne district of Porz . Lando Carisma comes from Bad Godesberg near Bonn .
