Die Hard Arcade is a beat-'em-up - computer game from 1996, which in Japan under the name Dynamite Deka ( ダイナマイト刑事 , decadent - slang for a police officer in civilian clothes) was published. In North America, Europe and Australia the game was released under the American license title Die Hard . The game first appeared as an arcade game and was later released on the Sega Saturn and PlayStation 2 .

The hero Bruno Delinger (name only available in the Japanese version) has similarities to John McClane from the films, but the game has little to do with the films. That's because this game was already in development when it was released in North America, Europe, and Australia. The game is playable for two players, with the second player taking on the role of a woman.

Action and gameplay

The player takes on the role of Bruno Delinger , who is called to a special mission . An unscrupulous gangster and his gang have robbed a high-rise building and brought thirty hostages under his control. Among the hostages is the president's daughter , who hid in a desk for fear of the gangsters and notices how the gangster is looking for her.

Meanwhile, Bruno Delinger tries to fight his way through the skyscraper and faces the gang of the gangster. During the game, so-called quick-time events occur in which Bruno Delinger has to react to the actions of the gangsters. In scenes the story is retold. The president's daughter tries to get in touch with someone and reveals that she is in the president's office. She is caught by the gangster and Bruno Delinger rushes to her aid and faces him to fight.

The final fight of the game pays homage to the game Double Dragon . The Saturn version also includes a game version of the arcade game Deep Scan from Japan 1979, which enables the player to gain more lives.
