The Hegge in Niesen , a district of Willebadessen in the Höxter district , is a non- denominational conference center for adult education in North Rhine-Westphalia , which was founded in 1945 by a small Catholic women's community in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .

history

In November 1945, Theoderich Kampmann (1899–1983) and the founding group of the Hegge community brought the Hegge's Christian Educational Center into being. The original task was to train religious teachers who had no access to religious education training during the Nazi era .

present

Under the motto "Education makes you mature", Hegge offers conferences, seminars and educational weeks in the fields of theology and church, literature and art, law and medicine, society and politics. Working groups for certain professional groups, such as doctors, lawyers, artists, theologians and educators, are regularly offered.

A team of six pedagogical employees under the direction of Superior Lic. Theol. Dorothee Mann organizes around 50 conferences and study trips a year . The Bildungswerk is financed primarily from participant contributions, third-party grants such as the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Federal Agency for Civic Education , as well as donations.

The Bildungswerk has the following certifications:

  • Seal of approval for continuing education
  • Fair education house
  • Predicate Valuable from the Association of the State Working Group for Catholic Adult and Family Education in North Rhine-Westphalia
  • Seal of Approval Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)

House and garden

The house, which was built in 1951 and has been expanded and renovated several times, can accommodate up to 45 people in single and double rooms. The house has two lecture rooms with conference technology, two dining rooms and a large kitchen. The building is surrounded by an 8.5 hectare park.

The name "Hegge", d. H. the "Umhegte" or "Höhe" derives from the field name of a small hill in the Höxter district (between Eggegebirge and Weserbergland) on which the educational facility was built.
