The Mastersingers are a male choir that emerged from the Gächinger Kantorei under Helmuth Rilling . Its founder and director Klaus Breuninger formed the ensemble in 1998 for a CD production. The idea was to make once widespread pieces for male choir accessible to a wide audience again and to cultivate compositions that were hardly sung anymore.
