Klaus Breuninger (born August 1, 1961 in Stuttgart ) is a German choir and orchestra conductor .

life and work

Klaus Breuninger studied conducting at the Karlsruhe University of Music with Andreas Weiß ( orchestra ) and Martin Schmidt ( choir ). Breuninger was also a student of Helmuth Rilling at the International Bach Academy in Stuttgart .

During his studies he briefly lectured singing, music theory and choral conducting at the University of Zululand, South Africa .

Klaus Breuninger has been a freelance musician since completing his studies. In addition to his work as a bass soloist, his main focus is on conducting choirs and orchestras. In addition to his own ensembles, rehearsals and assistants are another area of ​​responsibility, for example in 2005, 2007 and 2008 the rehearsal and direction of the festival choir of the International Bach Academy and the choir rehearsal of the Grammy- nominated recording of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony under Roger Norrington .

The programmatic focus of his artistic work is on the performance of rarely heard oratorical works. Due to his many years of activity as the leader of several jazz ensembles (Swinging Jazzmen Stuttgart, Swing Four, Stuttgart Dance Orchestra) these are also oratorios, which z. Another focus is the collaboration with the Canadian composer Zane Zalis : the European premiere of the Holocaust oratorio "i believe - A HOLOCAUST ORATORIO FOR TODAY" took place in Stuttgart in 2013 under the direction of Klaus Breuninger, with further concerts a. a. in New York (Lincoln Center) and Lodz / Poland.
