The Six (artist group)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Six was an association of Munich poster artists and one of the first groups of artists to come together to market advertising orders, especially posters.

The reason for the merger was the hope of being able to compete better with the market-dominant commercial artist Ludwig Hohlwein . "To introduce themselves, each of the '6' (...) designed a poster. (...) The service of the '6' consisted in submitting six different small-format designs to the client from which he could then choose. "

The group was founded in 1914 by Franz Paul Glass with Valentin Zietara , Friedrich Heubner , Carl Moos , Emil Preetorius and Max Schwarzer .

In 1924 the second group was formed with the following members: Franz Paul Glass, Valentin Zietara, Max Eschle , Johann Baptist Maier (pseudonym: Hans Ibe), Otto Ottler , Tommi Parzinger .
