The Silver Bridge

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The art fairy tale The Silver Bridge by Hertha Vogel-Voll was first published in 1949/50 by Louis Ehlermann , Dresden .

History of origin

Starting in 1937, when she published the text of her play “Verwunschen, enchanted”, the author worked on a prose transmission of her fairy tale, which was only successfully premiered in Dresden in 1948 because of the Second World War . The book was first published in 1949 by Ehlermann-Verlag in Dresden.

In 1951/52 the book with new illustrations by Erika Werner-Nestler was published by Peter-Paul-Verlag , Feldberg (Mecklenburg). In 1956 the story was published as part of the fairy tale collection The Blue Wonder in the old Berlin publishing house Lucie Groszer . The second edition of this fairy tale book took place in 1958. Despite demand, the book was not reprinted in the GDR . A last attempt by the author, who died in 1975, to republish failed in 1972.

In the 1980s, WDR 5 broadcast a radio play adaptation of Die Silberne Brücke by Axel Scheibchen on the children's radio program Lilipuz , followed by the audio cassette in 1994, first by Modus Vivendi , and in 2000 by Baumhaus-Verlag , Frankfurt am Main.

In 2004 the book was reissued by Maechler-Verlag . The illustrations by Peter Maechler on every double page play an essential role. Because of the elaborate equipment of the book, including a cover made of blue velvet with gold embossing, as mentioned in the fairy tale itself, the publisher had to file for bankruptcy on November 15, 2006 .

content

The children's book tells in a fairy-tale way about the children Rose and Heinrich who set out to look for the blue flower , without which human hearts turn to stone and there is no longer any joy on earth. In addition, the "Big End" is up to mischief, a monster that pursues the two children. Only those who have a pure heart can find the blue flower; only children can do this.

The book knows how to tell children about the world and simply bring a little philosophy closer, such as that people easily listen to others and are blind to many things.

Audio book

The Silver Bridge was published by Maechler-Verlag in 2005 as an audio book with four audio CDs reviewed by Volker Lechtenbrink . Lechtenbrink speaks all the roles himself. Music and noises are largely avoided.
