The perpetrators are among us
The perpetrators are among us. About the glossing over of the SED dictatorship is the title of a book published in 2007 by Hubertus Knabe , the former director of the Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial . In it he analyzes the process of the transfiguration of the GDR, stands up against forgetting and for the dignity of the victims. The choice of the title should be reminiscent of the film The Murderers Are Among Us , in which Wolfgang Staudte showed "how the oppressors of yesterday have changed into a new era without awareness of wrongdoing". Knabe took over the title idea from Alan Posener .
