Jens Gieseke

Jens Gieseke (* 1964 in Langenhagen ) is a German historian . The focus of his research is the history of the GDR and the Ministry for State Security .

Life

Jens Gieseke was born in Langenhagen in 1964. After graduating from high school , he studied history , political science and law at the universities of Hanover and Potsdam since 1984 . In 1990 he completed his master's degree in Hanover. 2000 doctorate Gieseke in Christopher Kleßmann at the University of Potsdam Dr. phil. From 1993 to 2008 he was a research assistant in the Education and Research Department of the Gauck Authority . Since 2008 he has been the project manager of the “Communism and Society” department at the Center for Contemporary Research in Potsdam .
