The three dialecticians

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The three dialecticians was a cabaret trio. It was compiled exclusively for the program Ein Kessel Buntes on television in the GDR . Its members were Horst Köbbert (Rostock), Lutz Stückrath (Berlin) and Manfred Uhlig (Leipzig).

Surname

The name stands for the three different dialects of the protagonists. The cabaret artist Manfred Uhlig sächselt , the singer Horst Köbbert speaks Baltic dialect and comedian Lutz Stückrath speaks Berlin . At the same time it is an allusion to the prevailing worldview in the Eastern Bloc , Dialectical and Historical Materialism , with its three protagonists Marx, Engels and Lenin.

program

The three dialecticians led - according to the first concept of the series - from 1972 to summer 1977 as hosts (moderators) through the first 28 episodes of Kessel Buntes . In the sense of a classic variety program, they acted as a connecting element between the performances of other artists. In contrast to today's moderation, however, the announcements and cancellations of the performing artists belonged to the "secondary tasks" of the three dialecticians and were often taken over by an off-speaker or designed with number girls without an announcement. Rather, the three dialecticians presented short sketch and play scenes with a social and political background. Topics included the supply of the people in the GDR , the Reichsbahn and television itself, but also the 10th World Festival or the international recognition of the GDR. The scenes were aimed more at the “masses” than at the intellectual audience. The trio was therefore often ridiculed by the latter and - based on a text by Lothar Kusche - referred to as "The Three Diabetics". Nevertheless, The Three Dialecticians were very well known in the GDR and mostly enjoyed great popularity. However, this part of the audience failed to recognize what Manfred Uhlig revealed in his memoirs about the texts: “The first four episodes were great, with the fifth it slackened, with the sixth it weakened, and after the seventh it gradually went Oven off " .

The three dialecticians - with a different cast and partially changed concept - represent a continuation of the "Three Microphoneists" from the series Da laughs the bear (DFF 1956 to 1965), which is regarded as one of the "ancestors" of Kessel Buntes. Their composition should symbolize a "small cross-section" of the GDR population: one from the north, one from the capital and thus from the center and one from the south of the republic.

At the end of the 1970s, a conceptual revision of the Kessel Buntes took place. The new concept was a "modernization" of the series and was applied from the 29th episode (September 1977). From this point onwards, constantly changing moderators - mostly well-known television artists or artist couples from the GDR - instead of the Three Dialecticians - led through the program.

In addition to their appearances in Kessel Buntes , the members of the Drei Dialektiker were mainly active in other formations or solo for the stage, film, television or radio: For example Manfred Uhlig in the Leipziger Pfeffermühle or in the show Alte Liebe rostet nicht ( Radio DDR I ), Horst Köbbert in Klock 8, aft Strom (GDR television) and Lutz Stückrath as a member of the ensemble of the Berlin cabaret Die Distel .
