Manfred Uhlig (born September 2, 1927 in Leipzig ; † July 24, 2019 there ) was a German actor , cabaret artist , entertainer , television and radio presenter.

Life

Uhlig studied drama in his native Leipzig from 1948 to 1950 and then took on engagements at theaters and cabarets in Naumburg (Saale) , Greifswald , Lutherstadt Wittenberg (1954/55) and Schwerin (1955/56). From 1956 he belonged to the ensemble of the cabaret Leipziger Pfeffermühle , which had been founded two years earlier , where he appeared on stage alongside Helga Hahnemann , Ellen Tiedtke and Edgar Külow . Erich Loest , Reiner Kunze , Conrad Reinhold, Gerhard Zwerenz were among the copywriters of this era . On the stage of the Leipziger Pfeffermühle , Uhlig experienced as a cabaret artist how the previously successful program, originally approved by the cultural authorities, stir up! On December 15, 1956, in a staged tumult, it was stormed by combat group members and then banned. The following program in 1957, Scherz in minor, parodied the unimaginative entertainment programs of the GDR radio . On June 30, 1962 Manfred Uhlig left this venue - together with Helga Hahnemann, whom he once discovered - and, like “Henne”, now worked for television and radio in the GDR.

On GDR television he appeared, among other things, as one of the three microphone players in the entertainment program Da laughs the bear . These moderators each represented a German region: Heinz Quermann alternating with Manfred Uhlig ( Saxony ) - Gustav Müller ( Rhineland ) and alternating Herbert Köfer ( East Berlin ) and Gerhard Wollner ( West Berlin ). Later on, Uhlig was a regular guest on the show There is music in it .

From 1965 he presented 289 episodes of the show Alte Liebe rostet nicht rostet , which was one of the longest-lived German radio programs, for 24 years on Radio DDR I together with Günter Hansel (1931–2002) . He had previously become known through his radio broadcasts Leipziger Allerlei , colleague is coming soon . Later Uhlig also created the radio series Sächsisch for you .

He also moderated from 1972 together with Horst Köbbert (1928-2014) and Lutz Stückrath (* 1938) as a cabaret trio Die drei Dialektiker 28 episodes of the Saturday evening television show Ein Kessel Buntes . The three dialecticians ended their performances in 1977 at their own request.

In 1978 Manfred Uhlig was awarded the GDR Art Prize.

After the end of the GDR , he occasionally worked for the Central German Radio (MDR). He lived with his wife, married in 1955, until their death in February 2016, as well as a daughter, a son and grandchildren in Leipzig . Uhlig was a fan of the Chemistry Leipzig soccer club .
