Ellen Tiedtke (* March 16, 1930 in Bischofsburg , East Prussia ; † February 1, 2022 in Berlin ) was a German actress , cabaret artist and singer . Tiedtke became known primarily through the GDR children's program Ellentie (1983-1991).

Life

Born in the East Prussian Bischofsburg, Tiedtke had to flee to Schwerin with her family at the end of the Second World War .

Tiedtke studied from 1949 to 1952 at the acting schools in Schwerin and Leipzig and was then employed at the Stadttheater Cottbus until 1954 . Here, along with Ursula Wagner, Erhard Köster , Walter Niklaus and Edi Weeber-Fried, she was one of the founding members of the local cabaret ensemble "Die Sticklinge".

In 1956 she appeared with a cabaret program at the " Leipziger Pfeffermühle ". In the program , you stir , Tiedtke criticized the conditions in the GDR. After an audience of officials stormed the stage at their performance on December 15, 1956, the program was cancelled. Tiedtke went to Berlin , where she performed in the ensemble " Die Distel ". In 1961 she received the GDR Art Prize and the GDR National Prize in the collective of the cabaret “Die Distel” . At the same time, her first appearances in film productions followed, in 1964 she appeared in the television thriller Doppelt odernichts and in the DEFA comedy Ohne Pass in Fremd Betten .

After Tiedtke had criticized two directors of the cabaret stage at a works meeting of the "Distel" in 1964, she was dismissed. She then went on to freelance as a singer in the style of Claire Waldoff . Your single You're a fine man / ride but alone carousel appeared in 1964. Tiedtke also appeared in Heinz Quermann 's hit revue . When she no longer wanted to appear with the "adulation of the GDR" desired by the editors, there were no engagements. The concert and guest performance directorate forbade the cultural institutions to hire Tiedtke.

It was not until 1975 that Wolfgang E. Struck brought Tiedtke to the Friedrichstadt-Palast , where she was allowed to appear in children's revues. Between 1978 and 1983 she appeared in various roles in several children's television films about the clown Ferdinand . In 1980 she was seen in the political drama The Betrothed .

Tiedtke became known in the GDR primarily through the children's program Ellentie , which was broadcast on Wednesdays on the second channel of GDR television from 1983 to 1991 and consisted of film features, games and conversations with children. The readers of the GDR television magazine FF twice voted her favorite for this show .

In 1985 she released a record entitled "Ellen Tiedtke sings mit Herz und Schnauze" (LP LITERA 8 65 375) on the GDR record label Litera .

She was married to Hans Rascher . Ellen Tiedtke died in February 2022 in a hospital in Berlin at the age of 91.
