The 1st field artillery regiment "Prinzregent Luitpold" was an artillery association of the Bavarian Army .

history

The regiment was established on October 11, 1824 and was part of the 1st Division . The first regiment owner was Prince Luitpold of Bavaria , who later became Prince Regent, from November 1, 1839 . The regiment's name was added as an addition. On June 23, 1916, ownership passed to Rupprecht von Bayern .

Together with the 7th Field Artillery Regiment , it formed the 1st Field Artillery Brigade from October 1900 . The place of peace for both regiments was Munich .

First World War

At the beginning of World War I , the regiment was used as part of the divisional artillery of the 1st Infantry Division in the 6th Army in the west . Further stations of the regiment in the course of the war are identical to those of the division.

Whereabouts

After the end of the war, the regiment marched back to Munich, where it was demobilized on December 22, 1918 and finally disbanded. The Hallberg People's Army Battery was formed from parts. With the formation of the Provisional Reichswehr, this became the 5th battery of the light Reichswehr Artillery Regiment 21.

The tradition in the Reichswehr was taken over by the 6th battery of the 7th (Bavarian) Artillery Regiment in Würzburg by decree of the Chief of Army Command, General of the Infantry Hans von Seeckt , on August 24, 1921  . In the Wehrmacht , the 7th Artillery Regiment continued the tradition.

Commanders

Until 1872 the commanders used the designation Oberstkommandant.
