A prince regent conducts government affairs on behalf of a prince who is no longer or not yet able to do this himself (due to absence, minority, mental illness or other underage). Regent was usually the after Primogeniturordnung who is next capable of governing Agnat , say for example the crown prince if he was of age. For underage kings, their uncles often ruled.
