Royal Bavarian 2nd Foot Artillery Regiment
The 2nd foot artillery regiment was an association of the foot artillery brigade of the Bavarian Army .
history
According to the ordinance of October 17, 1872, the artillery of the Bavarian Army was separated into field and foot artillery regiments on January 1, 1873. That date was dressing from the Fortress departments of the 2nd and 4th Field Artillery Regiment formed. It is initially divided into two battalions of four companies . On October 1, 1893, the III. Battalion was formed and the companies renamed Batteries on December 11, 1908 .
The last peace stations of the regiment were Metz (staff, 1st and 3rd battalion) and Germersheim (2nd battalion).
Whereabouts
After the end of the war , the remnants of the regiment were demobilized and finally disbanded in February 1919.
The tradition in the Reichswehr was taken over by the 2nd battery of the 7th (Bavarian) Artillery Regiment in Würzburg by decree of the Chief of the Army Command, General of the Infantry Hans von Seeckt , on August 24, 1921 . In the Wehrmacht , the tradition was continued by the I. Division of Artillery Regiment 53 in Ansbach.
