Hermann Beeg

Hermann Beeg (* 24. November 1861 in Fuerth , † the 30th December 1932 in Reisach ) was a Bavarian officer , last lieutenant general in the First World War .

Life

origin

Hermann's father was the teacher and general commissioner Johann Caspar Beeg . His mother, the writer Mathilde Beeg, was a daughter of Hans von und zu Aufseß .

Military career

Beegs completed by 1880/81, the grammar school and then entered as a three-year volunteer in the 2nd Foot Artillery Regiment of the Bavarian army one. There was on March 18, 1882 his appointment as Portepeefähnrich . From April 1, 1882 to March 15, 1883, he took the officers' course at the Munich War School and took his officer examination there from March 8 to 15. On December 22nd, 1883 he was promoted to second lieutenant and was assigned to the artillery and engineering school .

On May 16, 1885, Begg returned to his ancestral unit. From 1890 to 1893 Beeg graduated from the military academy , which made him qualified for general staff service. On September 25, 1893, Beeg was commanded from the War Academy to the Artillery and Engineering School to work there as a management officer and teacher.

On November 6, 1894 he was promoted to captain and appointed company commander of the 2nd foot artillery regiment. However, this was done with temporary retention in the command, his position as a directorate officer and teacher at the artillery and engineering school in the 1st foot artillery regiment . On September 1, 1896, he was appointed company commander in the 1st Foot Artillery Regiment and assigned to the railway department of the Great General Staff of the Prussian Army . On September 14, 1897, Beeg was appointed Railway Commissioner and Railway Line Commission in Ludwigshafen am Rhein , but still retained his position as company commander in the 1st Foot Artillery Regiment and in command of the Railway Department of the Great General Staff. On September 23, 1898 he was posted to the railroad department of the Great General Staff. In 1900 he was appointed railway line commissioner in Munich, during which time he was still in command of the 1st Foot Artillery Regiment and the General Staff in the railway department. On October 19, 1900, Beeg was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class.

On September 23, 1902 he was appointed company commander in the 2nd foot artillery regiment. Within the regiment, Beeg rose to staff officer in 1904, was promoted to major in 1905 and, as such, was finally battalion commander. From 1907 to 1908 Beeg was then director of the Oberfeuerwerker-Schule. He then resigned from the service and was appointed as a lieutenant colonel commander of the 2nd foot artillery regiment. In this position he was promoted to colonel in 1912 . In the same year he gave up command and was appointed director of the artillery and train depot.

With the outbreak of the First World War, Beeg was assigned to Army High Command 6 as major general . From August 22, 1914 to 1917 he was commander of the foot artillery brigade command 2 and then until July 5, 1918 commander of the 30th Bavarian Reserve Division and was promoted to lieutenant general. Then he commanded the 10th Infantry Division until it was dissolved on August 14, 1918 . In the last year of the war he was also deputy field warden . After the end of the war and demobilization, Beeg was put up for disposal in 1919 .

Beeg married Gisela Benedikta Maria Adelheid von Heckel on March 18, 1895 in Munich (* October 18, 1867 - † March 5, 1946).
