1st Royal Bavarian Field Artillery Brigade
The 1st Field Artillery Brigade was a large unit of the Bavarian Army .
history
The large formation was originally established on February 1, 1869 as the 1st Artillery Brigade and renamed the 1st Field Artillery Brigade on January 1, 1873. She was part of the 1st Division and had her command in Munich .
The brigade was not used as a closed unit during the First World War . The two artillery regiments were depending on location and focus with the two infantry brigades of the Division relies on cooperation. The commander of the artillery brigade was integrated into the division of war as an artillery commander in the division staff.
In the further course of the war the Artillery Commander No. 1 was formed from the command of the War Ministry of February 22, 1917 . After the end of the war, the command returned home, where it was demobilized and finally disbanded on December 18, 1918.
Insinuation
Before the beginning of the First World War, the following units were subordinate to the brigade:
- 1st field artillery regiment "Prinzregent Luitpold" in Munich
- 7th field artillery regiment "Prinzregent Luitpold" in Munich
Both regiments, whose members were also called "Luitpold cannoniers", were housed in the Max II barracks .
The regiments consisted of two divisions each with three batteries of field cannons or field howitzers and a light ammunition column.
