Ellentie was a children's program on the second East German television station . The show title is an acronym for the name of Ellen Tie dtke, who played Ellentie. The show ran from 1983 to 1991 under the motto films, fun and anything else and was one of the most popular children's programs on television in the GDR.

The first episode of the children's magazine was broadcast on January 5, 1983 in the 2nd program of GDR television. The roughly 30-minute episodes ran on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. The airtime was designed Ellentie for the education of children in the school club to use. From February 1990 to December 1990 the broadcast took place on Sunday mornings, followed by a few monthly episodes. When GDR television was discontinued, the production and broadcasting of Ellentie also ended.

The show's namesake and leading actress was the Berlin actress and cabaret artist Ellen Tiedtke (born March 16, 1930 in Bischofsburg , East Prussia). In most of the episodes, she wore dungarees, a striped sweater, and striped socks. This outfit became the characteristic distinguishing feature for the person Ellentie .

In the course of a program, short cartoons, fairy tales, songs and conversations with children were shown. The audience puzzles were very popular. The individual parts of the program were brought together by the moderator Ellenties in the form of a story.

According to their own account, the program was playful and imaginative pedagogy without a raised index finger for viewers between 6 and 9 years of age . The readers of the GDR television magazine FF voted Ellentie and Ellen Tiedtke twice as television favorites .
